Learn about some of the oldest toys known and made around the world, using the simplest of materials like string, leaves, paper, and...skills.  This is a perfect blend of science, physics, and art!  The slideshow offers inspiration and tips for making your own creation, providing hours of kinetic experimentation and fun.  Adapt this as a design challenge focused on specific materials or toys, ie. boats, rockets, robots, and more.

BASICS YOU NEED:

Internet connection

Scissors

Things you can cut like -

Cereal or cracker box/es, egg carton/s, toilet paper tubes

Or corrugated cardboard 

Or manila folder-weight card stock

Tape (scotch, packing, duck/duct, masking)

Pipe cleaners, bendable and cut-able wire or craft wire 

 

GETTING FANCY:

String, yarn, cord, twine

Brass brad/s

Fabric and paper scraps, old toys, electrical parts

Compass point or ballpoint pen for poking into cardboard
