ABOUT
Peopleologist, Linda Janklow

Peopleologie founding creator, educator

Creativity embeds knowledge so that it can become practice.  We move what we’re learning from our heads to our hearts through our hands.  We are born makers, and creativity is the ultimate act of integration—it is how we fold our experiences into our being.
- Brene Brown

I believe that everybody can make things!  I value process over product, reusing our resources, and success-oriented slow and old ways of making things.  I see an urgent need to unplug from our screens, and explore a world where correctness is thrown out the window.  Using your hands to make things ignites your brain, forges cognitive connections, and has a positive impact on social and emotional wellness.  Hand crafting improves your body and mind, from your head to fingers and toes!

For four decades I've created interdisciplinary programs for youth and adults, blending the humanities, heritage, and cultural craft and folk art.  My background in art, history, anthropology, and the world's oldest hand making processes informs my integrated experiences collaborating with museums, schools, and community organizations.

Previously, I served as co-founder and director of both the Education and Family Programs of San Francisco's Museum of Craft and Folk Art.  During my tenure the Museum received the prestigious Exemplary Arts Education Award and a National Endowment for the Arts grant, and provided workshops for over 9,000 participants annually.  In addition, I served as Series Curator for Friday Nights at the de Young Museum and Family Community Days, and received funding from the San Mateo County Office of Arts & Culture, Silicon Valley Education Foundation, Independent Bay Area Arts & Media, California Small Business Relief, and Jeanie Ritchie grants.

I am a member of the Arts Now Community Leadership Team of San Mateo County Office of Education, Arts Education Alliance of the Bay Area, Arts for a Better Bay Area, and serve on the board of directors of Art is Moving.

Peopleologie is a featured resource of Artspiration/Santa Clara County Arts Education Initiative, ArtsEdConnect, The Connectory, and Ocean Grove Charter Schools.
