Learn about a culture where art, ritual, and everyday life intertwine, and where every person is considered an artist! Our optional slide show introduces traditional Indonesian culture and arts (or just shadow puppet traditions) before an opportunity to handle real puppets and create your own with file folders, scissors, hole punches, and your imagination. With only a light source and your puppet, your classroom or living room wall is transformed into a perfect theater.
Practice skills drawing an outline in profile, experiment with the concepts of positive/negative space, create movement, and a spontaneous theatrical experience.
Best for participants 7 and older.
